Contractors begin solar light installation at local dog park

The Wylie Parks and Recreation Department is making significant strides in enhancing community facilities, as discussed in the recent government meeting on May 12, 2025. Key updates included the ongoing improvements at the local dog park and the Southfields area.

The dog park is currently closed for renovations as contractors begin installing 12 new solar lights. These lights are expected to be operational by the end of the week, providing illumination from dusk until midnight, aligning with park hours. Existing security lights will remain on from dusk until dawn, ensuring safety for park visitors. The park may reopen as early as this weekend, depending on the installation progress.

In addition, the Southfields renovation project is back on track after delays due to weather conditions. Crews are currently focused on installing irrigation systems, with plans to add new topsoil and sand shortly thereafter. The contractor aims to complete this phase by the end of May, with sod installation anticipated in early June, weather permitting.
