Mount Jordan Middle School holds year-end music concert featuring advanced and beginning bands

The Mount Jordan Middle School Band and Orchestra Concert held on May 9, 2025, showcased the hard work and talent of students as they performed a variety of musical pieces. The event, directed by Mr. Simmons, featured both beginning and advanced groups from the instrumental music program, celebrating the end of the school year.

The concert opened with the beginning percussion class performing "Free Rider," followed by the advanced percussion group, which played two pieces: "Traumatic" and "Clave and Sons." The beginning band then took the stage, presenting "Batter Up," "Star Bright," and concluding with "Propulsion." Mr. Simmons expressed pride in the students' progress and the joy they brought to the program.

The advanced band performed "Reverberations" and "Companion of My Voice," with Mr. Simmons sharing a sentimental moment about the students moving on to high school. The concert culminated with a grand finale performance of "The Lord of the Rings," highlighting the students' dedication and growth throughout the year.

The evening also featured the beginning orchestra, which played "Burst," followed by "Fantasy on a Japanese Folk Song" and "El Toro." The advanced orchestra performed "Arithmetic," a modern piece, and concluded with "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "A Million Dreams." Mr. Simmons reflected on the challenges and joys of working with the students, encouraging them to pursue their dreams as they transition to the next stage of their education.

The concert was well-attended, with families and friends supporting the young musicians. Mr. Simmons reminded attendees to meet their students outside the band room after the performance, ensuring a smooth conclusion to the evening.
