Ogden Canyon project plans alternative pathway and bridge construction

A new bicycle path project in Ogden Canyon is set to enhance safety and accessibility for cyclists, as discussed at the Utah Transportation Commission meeting on May 8, 2025. The initiative aims to create an alternate route for cyclists, keeping them off the busy road and instead directing them along the riverbank.

Commission members highlighted the importance of this project, emphasizing the need for a bridge to facilitate crossing the river. "We’re figuring out a way to cross the river, so we’re gonna have to build a bridge," one member noted, acknowledging the construction challenges ahead. The city and county are actively involved, showing strong support for the project.

In addition to the bicycle path, the meeting also covered updates on the Transit Transportation Investment Fund (TTIF). The TTIF will see changes in funding allocations, moving from a previous 60-40 match to a new 70-30 structure, which could impact future projects.

As the Ogden Canyon bicycle path moves forward, the commission is working diligently to secure contractor involvement to ensure cost-effectiveness. The anticipated improvements promise to enhance both safety for cyclists and the overall transportation infrastructure in the area.
