Northern Dental Access opens new facilities in Bagley and Park Rapids amid regional healthcare shift

Becker County's commitment to enhancing dental care access took center stage at the May 6, 2025, Board of Commissioners meeting, as officials announced the opening of a new dental clinic in Detroit Lakes. This initiative comes in response to the withdrawal of Northern Dental Access from a proposed facility in Frazee, which led Apple Tree Dental to step in and secure a building previously used for public works.

The new clinic, while not yet operating full-time, is set to address a significant need for dental services, particularly for children and those on medical assistance. Erica, a representative from Apple Tree Dental, expressed gratitude for the support received, highlighting the ongoing demand for accessible dental care in the community. "This meets such a huge need," she stated, emphasizing the importance of the clinic's services.

In addition to the dental clinic announcement, the meeting covered various updates, including the approval of an RVIG grant aimed at supporting local housing initiatives. The county is currently assisting 57 families with affordable housing options, while also addressing the need for long-term supportive housing.

The commissioners also discussed upcoming events, including the Becker County Fair scheduled for July 23-26, which will feature a variety of activities and contests, including a sugar cookie contest in collaboration with Project 412.
