Facilities Committee discusses repairs at Administration Building and Glen's Side

The Cheltenham School District's Facilities Committee convened on May 6, 2025, to discuss ongoing maintenance and infrastructure updates across district facilities. The meeting, led by interim director of facilities and maintenance, Anthony Carter, began with a roll call of board members, confirming the presence of all but one member.

The committee approved the minutes from the previous meeting held on April 1, 2025, with a unanimous vote. Following this, Carter presented a series of critical updates regarding facility repairs and improvements.

Carter reported a significant steam leak in the Administration Building's boiler room, which necessitated the replacement of approximately 17 feet of old piping with new black cast iron pipe. This upgrade aims to enhance the efficiency and safety of the heating system.

Further updates included the replacement of an outdated fire pump at Myers, which had been prone to rust and operational failure due to its design. The new pump has been installed alongside the existing one, as removing the old unit would have been overly complicated.

At Glenside, a leaking water heater was addressed with the installation of a new unit, while a failing motor in the cooling tower was also replaced to ensure proper functionality.

The meeting concluded with a summary of the ongoing maintenance efforts and a commitment to continue addressing facility needs as they arise. The committee emphasized the importance of these updates in maintaining a safe and effective learning environment for students and staff.
