Hot Springs City Manager Burrow announces new hires and upcoming events

The City of Hot Springs is set to welcome several new faces to its public service team following the recent Board of Directors meeting held on May 7, 2025. City Manager Bill Burrow announced the hiring of three new employees: Abigail English as a 911 dispatcher for the Hot Springs Police Department, Spencer Hill as a utilities plant operator, and Chad Cook as a building inspector in planning and development.

In addition to these new hires, the meeting highlighted the achievements of local first responders. Firefighter Taylor McCullough was recognized for completing an 18-month training program, marking a significant milestone in his career. The police department also celebrated the graduation of seven new officers from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy, with Officer Brandon Bush receiving the Servant Leadership Award for her exemplary performance.

The meeting also addressed community initiatives, including the successful rollout of a new employee parking permit program, which went live on May 2. This program aims to streamline parking access for city employees, with ongoing support from city staff to ensure a smooth transition.

Upcoming events were a focal point of the meeting, with several community gatherings scheduled. Notably, the Memorial Day fireworks display will take place on May 25 at Lake Hamilton, and the first-ever Arena League football game featuring the Hot Springs Wise Guys is set for May 31. Additionally, a quarterly town hall meeting will be held on May 15 at First Lutheran Church, featuring updates from local officials and a free taco dinner for attendees.

The meeting concluded with an announcement about the America's Freedom tribute, a traveling exhibit replicating the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which will be on display at the Hot Springs Memorial Airport from May 22 to May 26. This exhibit aims to honor fallen soldiers and raise awareness about PTSD and suicide among veterans.
