As the school year draws to a close, the Pomona Unified School District (PUSD) is celebrating student achievements and milestones across its schools. The recent board meeting highlighted various end-of-year events designed to honor graduating seniors and recognize the hard work of students and staff.
At Diamond Ranch High School, the Associated Student Body (ASB) is leading efforts to create memorable experiences for students. Their signature event, the move-up rally, symbolizes the progression of students as underclassmen take the places of graduating seniors. This rally is complemented by an academic honors assembly that celebrates student achievements throughout the year. Additionally, the school hosted a college decision day to support seniors in their post-secondary plans, whether they choose college, trade school, the military, or the workforce.
Fremont Academy is also marking the end of the year with a trip to Disney California Adventure for their Grama Night. The ASB played a crucial role in organizing their college decision day, which was a resounding success. A senior sunset barbecue is planned to lead into graduation festivities.
Ganesha High School is actively engaging its community with a series of events. From May 5 to May 9, the school recognized the dedication of teachers and staff. The annual powder puff game on May 9 will see the class of 2025 compete against the class of 2026. Ganesha will also host a mental health awareness resource fair on May 13 and a decision day event where seniors will share their future plans. The school’s music program will perform at the Fox Theater on May 14, and the year will culminate with a senior awards event at the District Auditorium on May 22.
Gary High School is honoring its student-athletes with senior nights for spring sports, celebrating teamwork and dedication. The school will also host a spirit week leading up to a senior goodbye rally on May 16.
Village Academy High School is preparing for its annual Pindy Film Festival on May 16 and a spring concert on May 9. Seniors will participate in a dinner and award ceremony on May 21, coinciding with their college decision day.
The meeting concluded with heartfelt gratitude from the student representative, who expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the PUSD community during their final school year. As these celebrations unfold, they not only mark the end of the academic year but also foster a sense of pride and unity within the Pomona community.
