Council member Chito Vela emphasized the significance of Austin Energy's history, noting its evolution from a single generator to a nationally recognized utility serving over one million residents across a vast service area. "Austin Energy has powered homes, businesses, live music venues, and dreams," Vela stated, underscoring the utility's role in fostering community spirit and innovation.

Interim General Manager Stuart Riley, alongside some of the utility's longest-serving employees, accepted the proclamation with gratitude.
