The Margate City Commission meeting on May 8, 2025, celebrated the creativity and achievements of local students through an engaging poster contest. The event recognized winners across five divisions, including a special needs category, highlighting the importance of environmental awareness and community involvement among youth.
The contest featured four age-based divisions, with city winners selected from school winners. Each participant received a certificate, gift cards, and eco-friendly seed paper, promoting sustainability. The kindergarten and first-grade division saw Tiffany Trin from Liberty Elementary take the city title, while Bella Barrett from RISE Academy and Mila Clayton from Margate Elementary were recognized as school winners.
In the second and third-grade division, Ethan Exantas from WISE Academies emerged as the city winner, with Faith Wynne and Violet Brooks also honored. The fourth and fifth-grade division crowned Yaakov Hadikom from Lubavitch Hebrew Academy as the city winner, alongside several school winners from various local schools.
The middle school division recognized Paulo Meneses from Abundant Life Christian Academy as the city winner, while the special needs division honored Enzo Mendez from Margate Elementary.
The meeting also spotlighted the "Student of the Month" program, celebrating students for their character and contributions rather than just academic performance. Benjamin Olivera from Abundant Life Christian Academy was awarded for his remarkable improvement and kindness, while teachers like Miss Josiane Santos and Miss Renina Sanders were acknowledged for their dedication and impact on students.
This event not only showcased the talents of Margate's youth but also reinforced the community's commitment to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for education. The city commission's efforts to recognize and reward student achievements are expected to inspire continued participation and enthusiasm in future initiatives.
