A significant proposal for the Boathouse restaurant in Tiverton is set to enhance dining options and accommodate growing demand. During the Tiverton Planning Board Technical Review Committee meeting on May 6, 2025, plans were unveiled for a minor land development project aimed at expanding the restaurant's dining area and kitchen facilities.
The proposal includes the addition of a new deck over the north patio, increased seating capacity, and a new bar, all designed to meet the high demand for tables at the popular establishment. "I can't get a table here on Friday afternoon or evening unless I book two weeks in advance," noted Veil Higurani, representing the engineering team. The current seating capacity of 262 is expected to rise to 333 with the proposed changes.

Plans also include reorganizing existing parking and introducing a new grass-paved lot to accommodate overflow. Higurani emphasized that the project aims to modernize the restaurant, which has been in operation for over 20 years, and to ensure it meets contemporary standards.
While the focus remains on the restaurant, Higurani mentioned that the site had previously been considered for additional commercial development, although those plans have since expired. The project is classified as a minor land development, requiring only technical review and internal municipal approval.
As the Boathouse prepares for its expansion, the community can anticipate a more accommodating dining experience, reflecting the restaurant's ongoing success and commitment to meeting customer needs.
