Chickasha City Council celebrated local athletic achievements during their May 5, 2025, meeting, highlighting the success of the USAO baseball and softball teams. Both teams recently clinched titles in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournaments, with the baseball team defeating Wayland Baptist University 11-1 and the softball team triumphing over Oklahoma City University with a score of 4-3. This marks the softball team's third consecutive tournament championship, adding to their regular season title.
As a result of their victories, both teams are set to advance to the national NAIA tournaments, with the softball team hosting an opening round tournament starting next Monday. The council expressed pride in the accomplishments of the USAO athletic department, recognizing the positive impact these achievements have on the community.
In addition to collegiate sports, the council also acknowledged the success of local high school teams. The Chickasha High School boys' basketball team is advancing to the next round of playoffs, with games scheduled to be hosted in Chickasha. Furthermore, both high school soccer teams are beginning their playoff runs, with the girls' team hosting a match and the boys' team competing away.
