Residents urge council to address traffic safety on Perkins East Perkinsville Road

Concerns over traffic safety and road conditions took center stage during the Chino Valley Town Council meeting on September 24, 2024, as resident Jennifer Gallaher passionately addressed the council. Living on Perkins East Perkinsville Road, Gallaher highlighted the alarming speed of large vehicles, including trucks and trailers, which she claims often exceed safe limits, posing a significant risk to families and pets in the area.

Gallaher described the lack of sidewalks and the dangers residents face while trying to access their mail or back out of driveways. She expressed frustration over the ineffective speed limit signs, stating that they do not deter reckless driving. "We take our life in our hands trying to go get our mail," she said, emphasizing the urgent need for improved safety measures.

The resident also pointed out the deteriorating condition of the road itself, noting that large vehicles create loud thuds as they pass over cracks, which have caused damage to her home. Gallaher urged the council to consider repaving the road, especially with the potential addition of an RV park nearby, which could exacerbate the existing traffic issues.

In response, the council acknowledged her concerns and committed to forwarding the speeding issues to the police chief for further investigation.
