The Water Resources Board meeting on April 22, 2025, focused on updates regarding the bulk water agreement with Marshall County. Valerie provided a detailed overview of the three-way agreement established in May 2020 between the City of Murfreesboro, Marshall County, and Consolidated Utility District.
The agreement, which was set for a minimum of five years, began when water was first conveyed to the Consolidated Utility District in September 2020. However, the board noted that the requirements for the fifth year, specifically the approval of plans by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) for a water treatment plant expansion, were not met by the August 2024 deadline.
Despite this, Valerie reported that the Consolidated Utility District is on track to meet the six and seven-year requirements. The engineer, Matthew Tucker, is finalizing the design for the new treatment plant, with plans to bid for construction this summer and begin work in the fall. Additionally, permits for a new water intake and raw water line are in progress.
The board will continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure compliance with the agreement. The meeting concluded with an invitation for questions regarding any changes in pricing related to the water service.
