The East Stroudsburg Area School District's Education Committee is gearing up to enhance technology education, with a focus on integrating typing skills into the curriculum. During the May 1 meeting, committee members discussed the potential implementation of a research-based typing program that would require students to practice just 15 minutes a few days a week. While the program comes with a hefty price tag, its advocates believe it is a worthwhile investment for student development.

Committee member Mr. Snyder emphasized the importance of exploring this initiative, stating, "It's a fantastic program... I believe that we should absolutely explore it." The committee plans to present a formal proposal, including cost estimates, in the coming months.

In addition to typing, the discussion highlighted the need for a clearer articulation of technology skills within the curriculum. The committee acknowledged that technology evolves rapidly, making it challenging to establish a consistent educational framework. They are working to define what students should know and be able to do with technology by the time they graduate.
