Shubham Kale recognized as outstanding youth leader and heads to Johns Hopkins University

At a recent government meeting, Shubham Kale, a senior at Paradise Valley High School, was recognized as the Outstanding Phoenix Youth Leader for District 2. His achievements highlight the impact of youth engagement in the community and the importance of innovative thinking in addressing local challenges.

Shubham has demonstrated exceptional dedication throughout his high school career, particularly in the bioscience program. His teachers noted his enthusiasm for learning and his ability to blend interests in computer science and bioscience. This unique combination has led him to create significant initiatives, including a registered nonprofit organization called Seniors in Power Technology. This organization focuses on helping senior citizens navigate technology, with over 100 seniors benefiting from weekly workshops across the Phoenix Metropolitan Area and Jacksonville, Florida.

In addition to his work with seniors, Shubham developed a machine learning model during his junior year to predict valley fever cases with 90% accuracy. This project not only utilized environmental data but also proposed interventions to prevent the disease, showcasing his commitment to public health.

As he prepares to graduate, Shubham has been awarded the prestigious Hudson Trust Scholarship to Johns Hopkins University, where he plans to major in public health and computer science.
