Patrick Brown, a stalwart of Miami-Dade County's public service, was honored for his remarkable 35-year career during the Employee Service Award Presentations on May 1, 2025. Known as the "eternal diplomat," Brown's positive demeanor and respect for colleagues and contractors have made significant contributions to the county's construction projects.
Beginning his journey in April 1990 as a construction manager in the Housing and Urban Development department, Brown quickly distinguished himself through his attention to detail and commitment to excellence. His efforts in rehabilitating vital projects like Liberty Square and the MROOP program set the stage for a successful career, leading him to roles as assistant director and later director of the public housing division. There, he focused on restoring offline housing units and improving HUD inspection scores, leaving a lasting impact on residents and the program.
In 2008, Brown transitioned to the Internal Services Department, where he oversaw major capital projects, including libraries and public safety facilities. His current role in the Water and Sewer Department has him leading high-performing teams and managing complex infrastructure work across water and wastewater plants.
Brown's leadership is characterized not only by the results he achieves but also by his dedication to mentoring others. His contributions have been vital to the county's development and the well-being of its residents, making his recognition at the awards ceremony a fitting tribute to his decades of service.
