In a significant move for local marijuana businesses, Huerfano County officials announced the conversion of Conditional Use Permits (CEPs) to marijuana licenses during the BOCC meeting on April 29, 2025. This change is part of a broader effort to align with new regulations that took effect in February 2024.
The first application under this new framework comes from POTS BAR, a marijuana farm that has faced challenges in recent years. Despite holding an active state license, the farm has been unable to cultivate marijuana for approximately two to three years due to personal issues. However, they are now poised to resume operations.
County officials confirmed that POTS BAR has successfully passed three annual inspections, demonstrating compliance with all necessary regulations, including security measures. The facility has maintained its standards, ensuring it is ready to grow again.
As part of the licensing process, the county has reached out to referral agencies for feedback, receiving positive responses from all involved. This transition marks a pivotal step for local marijuana operations, signaling a renewed commitment to supporting the industry in Huerfano County. The anticipated outcome is a revitalization of local marijuana cultivation, contributing to the county's economy and regulatory framework.
