Town Council approves contract with Hellas Construction for Vineyard Park project

The Sunnyvale Town Council meeting on April 28, 2025, focused on the approval of a significant contract for the design and construction of Vineyard Park. The council discussed the timeline for the project, which is expected to begin with design work in mid to late June, following the conclusion of the spring sports season.

During the meeting, council member Miss Danny inquired about the specifics of the project timeline. It was confirmed that the design phase would take approximately 8 to 10 weeks, while construction is projected to last between 12 to 16 weeks. The aim is to align the start of construction with the end of the spring season, tentatively set for mid-June, depending on weather conditions affecting makeup games.

The council moved forward with a motion to authorize the town manager to enter into a contract with Hellas Construction for a total cost of $1,904,198. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously, with a vote of 5-0, as two members were absent.

In addition to the main contract approval, there was a brief discussion about potential improvements to the park, which may be brought forward as change orders in the future, depending on staff recommendations. This project marks a significant investment in community infrastructure, aiming to enhance recreational facilities for residents.
