Camas High School honors Anna Kane and animation champions at Pride Awards

The Camas School District Board meeting on April 28, 2025, celebrated student achievements and discussed upcoming events that highlight the vibrant school community.

One of the most notable moments was the presentation of the Milltown Pride Award to Anna Kane, a talented student from Camas High School. Art teacher Heidi Keith praised Anna for her artistic skills, particularly her recent portrait of her grandfather, a scientist. Anna's accomplishments extend beyond the classroom; she recently won the Superintendent Art Award and will be recognized in Olympia on May 14, where her artwork will be displayed for a year.

Another highlight came from Discovery High School, where marketing and animation teacher Jennifer Lindthwaite announced that two of her students, Maya Erickson and Alina Herman, won the state championship for 2D animation at the SkillsUSA competition. Their creative project featured engaging characters and storytelling, showcasing the innovative spirit of the students.

The meeting also included reports from Liberty Middle School students, who shared updates on various school activities. They highlighted the success of a fundraising venture that raised over $5,000 for the school's ASB program and announced upcoming events, including the Liberty Spring Musical and the eighth-grade celebration. Students are preparing for state testing and have been actively involved in electing new ASB officers and web leaders to support incoming sixth graders.
