During a recent meeting of the Transportation Coordinating Committee in Wasatch County, Utah, officials outlined a series of significant transportation projects aimed at improving regional infrastructure and addressing growing traffic demands.
One of the most notable discussions centered on the IADI 215 reconstruction project, which is nearing completion. This project involved adding a lane and reconstructing aging pavement, marking the end of a series of projects that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Officials expressed optimism that the final touches would be completed by the end of the year, with some minor work potentially extending into spring 2024.

The intersection is being transformed into a Continuous Flow Interchange (CFI), designed to improve traffic flow by allowing left turns to occur before reaching the signal.
The meeting also addressed several upcoming projects, including the reconstruction of Ninetieth South from Redwood to Seventh West, which will expand the road from five to seven lanes. Additionally, three interchanges on Bangerter Highway are set to be converted into full grade-separated facilities, enhancing traffic movement across the region.
Other projects discussed include the construction of one-way frontage roads on I-215 to alleviate congestion and the extension of SR 111 to connect with the Backus Highway, which will improve access to the Olympia Hills and Daybreak developments.
Officials noted that these projects represent just a fraction of the more than 40 planned initiatives for the upcoming year in Region 2, reflecting a significant investment in the area’s transportation infrastructure. The total budget for these projects is substantial, with some estimates reaching into the billions, highlighting the ongoing commitment to enhancing mobility and safety for residents.
As these projects progress, community members can expect improved traffic conditions and increased accessibility, which are crucial for supporting the region's growth and development. The committee emphasized the importance of these initiatives in meeting the transportation needs of Wasatch County and surrounding areas.
