Bristol residents protest concert series venue change to Roger Williams Park

During the meeting, Police Chief and Captain Steven St. Pierre discussed the safety concerns that led to the venue change. They outlined the comprehensive safety plans developed for large events, acknowledging that while Independence Park has its advantages, it also presents unique challenges. The Chief clarified that the police department did not mandate the venue change but highlighted safety issues that needed addressing.

Borges urged the council to adopt proposed ordinances that would allow for temporary relocations of the concert series in emergencies while ensuring that the community retains a voice in future venue decisions. She proposed amendments to the parade route ordinance to include similar provisions, aiming to preserve the concert series' downtown location.
