The Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) recently held its annual Early Learning Enrollment Fair, providing families with a chance to explore educational opportunities for their young children. This event, which took place on April 5, welcomed both current and prospective families to learn about SCUSD's programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and transitional kindergarten. The enrollment center team is now ready to assist families in starting their educational journeys.
In addition to the enrollment fair, the community came together for the Santa Clara Firehouse Run, a 5K event held at Mission College. Organized by the Santa Clara Firefighters Foundation, this year marked a new collaboration with the Santa Clara Schools Foundation, which helped plan and execute the event. With 513 participants, the run not only promoted health and fitness but also raised funds to support local schools through scholarships and various educational programs.
The district also launched its first Family University program, aimed at empowering parents and caregivers with essential skills. Topics included English language classes, social-emotional strategies, and technology training. Participants who completed the five-week series received Chromebooks to further their learning, and there is already a waitlist for the next session starting on April 22.
Moreover, the district's labor management partnership has been actively engaging site leadership teams to reflect on their practices and enhance support structures. This ongoing collaboration aims to improve the educational environment for both staff and students.
These initiatives highlight SCUSD's commitment to fostering community involvement and supporting families as they navigate their children's educational paths. As the district continues to plan future events and programs, it remains focused on enhancing the educational experience for all students and their families.
