Coral Gables welcomes new city commission and honors Mayor Vince Lago

The City of Coral Gables held its Investiture Ceremony on April 27, 2025, marking a significant transition as the city welcomed its newly elected commission members for the 2025-2027 term. The event, which celebrated the principles of democracy and civic engagement, was attended by community leaders, residents, and local officials.

The ceremony commenced with an invocation by Reverend Father Richard Vigoa of Saint Augustine Catholic Church. In his address, Father Vigoa emphasized the importance of integrity, respect, and servant leadership in governance. He highlighted Coral Gables as a beautiful community, not only for its architecture and landscapes but also for the character and conduct of its citizens and leaders. His message called for a recommitment to progress and unity, urging the newly elected officials to lead with wisdom and compassion.

Mayor Vince Lago, who was re-elected, received special recognition from Father Vigoa for his dedication to the city and its residents. The reverend's words resonated with the audience, reinforcing the idea that effective leadership should reflect the dignity and spirit of the community.

Following the invocation, the ceremony included the presentation of colors by the fire and police department honor guard, along with the Pledge of Allegiance led by the mayor's daughters. The national anthem was performed by Rebecca Enriquez Hock, a local graduate and doctor from the University of Miami, further enhancing the sense of community pride during the event.

The Investiture Ceremony not only marked the beginning of a new chapter for the city’s leadership but also served as a reminder of the collective responsibility of elected officials to serve the common good.
