The Plan Commission discussed the initiative during a recent meeting, highlighting the interest of local entrepreneurs David and Justin, who aim to establish their business, Dynamic Auto Glass and Tint, at the site.

Currently, the city mandates a conditional use permit for vehicle repair services, which cannot be located adjacent to residential districts. However, the proposed ordinance would introduce a new classification called "Light Motor Vehicle Service Limited," specifically allowing auto glass services and tinting under certain conditions. This change would permit such businesses to operate as a limited use, provided that all services are performed indoors and subject to design review to ensure compatibility with the surrounding area.

Support from local officials, including Aldermen Chad and Marissa, has bolstered the proposal, which aims to enhance the business landscape while respecting residential neighbors. The commission emphasized that the new definition would help streamline the process for businesses like Dynamic Auto Glass and Tint, which primarily operates on-site for tinting but also provides mobile services for glass replacement.

The next step involves a public hearing scheduled for May 20, where the Common Council will consider the ordinance. If approved, the business plans to renovate both the interior and exterior of the building, improving its appeal and functionality. The Planning Commission will also review the site plan to ensure that the development aligns with community standards and enhances the area.
