Cary Junior High honors Braxton Stultz as Student of the Week for community service

The Laramie County School District 1 (LCSD1) Board of Trustees meeting held on April 21, 2025, featured notable recognitions and discussions centered on student achievements and employee contributions. The meeting commenced with the introduction of Braxton Stultz, an eighth grader from Cary Junior High School, who was honored as the Student of the Week. Principal Matt Schlegel praised Braxton for his exceptional character and commitment to community service, highlighting his receipt of the Congressional Medal for his volunteer efforts.

Braxton shared his experiences, mentioning his involvement in sports and a new club aimed at supporting seventh graders. He expressed gratitude towards his favorite teacher, Todd Jonas, for his support and encouragement throughout his academic journey. Mr. Jonas reciprocated the praise, emphasizing Braxton's leadership qualities and work ethic, which have made a positive impact on his peers.

Following the student recognition, Mary Quast, the community relations director, acknowledged the partnership with Western Vista Federal Credit Union, which presented certificates and gift cards to the honored students and their teachers.

The meeting also included the introduction of a new initiative, the LCSD1 Employee Spotlight, aimed at recognizing outstanding staff members. Amanda Crum from the transportation unit was selected for her exemplary service, punctuality, and willingness to assist beyond her regular duties. Her supervisor, Jim Riddell, highlighted her contributions to the district, including her role in maintaining the bus garage and leading snow removal efforts.

The meeting concluded with a round of applause for both Braxton and Amanda, underscoring the district's commitment to celebrating the achievements of its students and staff.
