Brownsburg's Lincolnwood Park Master Plan unveiled with innovative design elements

The Brownsburg Town Council meeting on April 24, 2025, highlighted significant developments in local parks and recreation, including the recognition of Versa Park and the introduction of the Lincolnwood Park Master Plan.

Versa Park was awarded the title of state finalist in the 2025 ACEC Indiana Engineering Excellence Award. This accolade was attributed to its innovative stormwater management system, which transformed a flat, isolated 6.7-acre site into a functional wetland. The design not only addressed stormwater issues but also enhanced the park's recreational appeal through the use of native plantings and permeable pavers.

In addition to this recognition, the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County awarded the town a grant of $12,500. This funding will be allocated to enhance features in the outdoor classroom at Williams Park, further enriching community recreational opportunities.

The meeting also featured a presentation on the Lincolnwood Park Master Plan, which has been in development since 2017. The plan aims to create a comprehensive recreational space that includes a one-mile network of walking and biking trails, an amphitheater, and an outdoor aquatics facility. The proposed aquatics center will feature a leisure pool, lap pool, lazy river, and various interactive water play structures, responding to community feedback on desired amenities.

The presentation outlined the challenges and opportunities presented by the park's topography, including designated floodways and mitigation areas that will influence the layout of the new facilities. The council discussed the importance of ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in the design, with features such as ADA-compliant pathways and seating areas.

Overall, the meeting underscored the town's commitment to enhancing public spaces and recreational facilities, with plans that reflect community priorities and environmental considerations. The next steps will involve further community engagement and detailed planning as the Lincolnwood Park project moves forward.
