Detective Michael Soika of the East District's Violence Reduction Team (VRT) is making significant strides in enhancing public safety in Indianapolis. With a focus on tackling major felony narcotics and gun crimes, Detective Soika has dedicated the past four years to investigating and removing violent offenders from the community.

In 2024 alone, Detective Soika led over 20 complex investigations, resulting in 28 arrests linked to serious felony offenses, including narcotics sales and illegal firearm possession. His efforts have led to the recovery of 30 illegal firearms, including several that were stolen, and the seizure of substantial quantities of drugs, such as 46 grams of cocaine, 27 grams of fentanyl, and 1655 grams of marijuana.

Detective Soika's commitment extends beyond his investigative work; he also serves as a field training officer, mentoring both new and veteran officers.
