The City Council of Indianapolis held its 57th Annual Fire, Police & Deputy Sheriff's Community Recognition Luncheon on April 24, 2025, celebrating the bravery and dedication of local first responders. A highlight of the event was the recognition of Firefighter Adam Gody for his exceptional service and life-saving actions.

During the ceremony, it was noted that Gody, a ten-year veteran of the Indianapolis Fire Department, demonstrated remarkable courage during a house fire on January 20, 2024. Responding to a fully involved front porch fire at a residence on North Dearborn Street, Gody quickly established command and entered the structure despite the dangerous conditions. His swift actions led to the rescue of two victims, one of whom was unconscious but survived due to Gody's timely intervention.

Gody's commitment to saving lives was further underscored by another rescue he performed just two months prior, where he saved an unconscious woman from a burning home. His efforts have resulted in a total of eight hands-on rescues throughout his career. For his outstanding contributions, Gody received the Firefighter of the Year award for 2022 and was previously honored as Rescue Firefighter of the Year in 2019.

The luncheon served as a platform to honor not only Gody but also the collective efforts of the fire, police, and deputy sheriff departments in Indianapolis. The recognition of first responders highlights the critical role they play in ensuring community safety and well-being. The event concluded with a call for continued support and appreciation for the sacrifices made by these dedicated individuals.
