Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors celebrated community leadership during its recent hybrid meeting, highlighting the impactful contributions of local residents. Supervisor Anne O'Connor took the floor to honor Nikki Rouleau, president of the Bayview Neighborhood Association, for her exceptional dedication to the District 4 community.

Rouleau has become a cornerstone of Bayview, known for her tireless efforts in organizing events like the Bayview Bash and the Pumpkin Pavilion. Supervisor O'Connor praised her as a "true leader" and "doer," emphasizing her ability to mobilize volunteers and coordinate community initiatives that enrich the neighborhood. O'Connor recounted witnessing Rouleau's quick response during an emergency at the Bayview Bash, showcasing her commitment to both the event and the safety of attendees.

In addition to Rouleau's recognition, Supervisor O'Connor also acknowledged Demetria Smith, a prominent environmental advocate and founding member of the Milwaukee Parks Foundation board, who was unable to attend the meeting. O'Connor expressed gratitude for Smith's contributions to environmental advocacy throughout Milwaukee County.

The meeting underscored the importance of community engagement and volunteerism, with the Board unanimously approving a citation for Rouleau, reflecting the collective appreciation for her leadership.
