The 57th Annual Fire, Police & Deputy Sheriff's Community Recognition Luncheon in Indianapolis showcased the remarkable achievements of local law enforcement and fire department personnel, with a special focus on honoring outstanding service in 2024. The event, held on April 24, 2025, featured a heartfelt tribute to the late Officer David S. Moore, as the Police Rookie of the Year award was renamed in his honor.

Emcees Dustin Grove and Ginny Renovich from Channel 13 WTHR kicked off the program, thanking sponsors and the planning committee for their efforts in organizing the event. Mayor Joe Hogsett and various police and fire chiefs joined them on stage to present awards to deserving nominees.

Among the highlights was the recognition of Officer Christopher Khalil, who received the David S. Moore Police Rookie of the Year award. Khalil's first year on the force was marked by exceptional dedication, with 87 arrests and significant contributions to public safety, including the seizure of illegal drugs and firearms. His proactive approach to policing has made a notable impact on crime reduction in downtown Indianapolis.

Additionally, the luncheon introduced the Sheriff Frank Anderson Spirit of Diversity Award, honoring individuals within the Marion County Sheriff's Office who embody the late sheriff's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This award reflects a growing recognition of the importance of these values within law enforcement.
