The Winchester City Council's Planning and Economic Development Committee recently discussed a proposal for a new entertainment venue at the Spaces Inn, which is set to include karaoke rooms and a general music area. This initiative aims to repurpose the existing building while addressing community concerns regarding its proximity to a residential district.

The proposal includes three karaoke rooms where patrons can rent space to sing, alongside a general area for music enjoyment. Refreshments and drinks will be available, but food will be sourced from a neighboring establishment, 314 Pizza, eliminating the need for on-site food preparation.

A significant point of discussion during the meeting was the potential sound impact on nearby residents. The applicant, who has a background in communications and radio, presented plans for sound dampening measures to minimize noise from the venue. The committee expressed confidence that these measures would effectively mitigate sound issues, especially given the ample parking available at the site and the proposed hours of operation.

Additionally, the venue plans to include a small outdoor smoking area for patrons. Overall, the committee did not foresee any negative effects on surrounding properties, indicating a positive outlook for the project as it moves forward. This development reflects the city’s ongoing efforts to enhance local entertainment options while being mindful of community needs.
