Levelland City Council has taken significant steps to enhance the city’s infrastructure and public safety during their meeting on October 21, 2024. The council approved a $99,999 bid for vehicle damage repairs and moved forward with a crucial agreement with Ameresco to upgrade the city’s water meter infrastructure.

The water meter project, which has been in discussion for several years, aims to replace outdated meters with advanced technology that allows for remote monitoring. This upgrade is expected to improve water management and conservation efforts, especially as the region faces challenges related to dwindling aquifer levels and increasing demand from neighboring cities. The total cost of the project is projected to be around $6 million, with potential savings anticipated to offset these expenses over time.

This resolution is a necessary step to secure funding from TxDOT Aviation, following a previous communication lapse.

Lastly, the council approved a five-year service agreement with Blue Layer IT Solutions for the maintenance of security systems at City Hall, ensuring the safety of city operations.
