"There are drugs in these Airbnbs, and one of the owners even brandished a weapon in front of my children," she stated, emphasizing the negative impact on community safety.

García's testimony was echoed by other residents, including Joan McFlaven, who expressed worries about property values and parking issues caused by new developments. "This construction is blocking our parking and decreasing our property value," she said, urging the board to reconsider the proposed changes.

The meeting also addressed a request for a special exception to allow a short-term rental at 203 Pashcal Unit 101. While the proposal had some support, it raised concerns about increasing rental density in the area. The board ultimately decided to postpone discussions on several cases, including the contentious Airbnb proposals, to allow for further community input.
