Residents of Harriet Road in Argyle are calling for increased safety measures following a significant rise in traffic and speed-related incidents. During the recent Town Council meeting on April 21, 2025, long-time resident Joanne expressed her concerns about the dangers posed by the increased vehicle flow on her street, which has seen a notable uptick in traffic over the past five years.

Joanne, who has lived on Harriet Road for over 52 years, reported that the road has transformed from a quiet dead-end to a busy thoroughfare, with traffic counts reaching as high as 51 trips in a single day. She highlighted the road's narrowness and its double curve, which she believes contribute to unsafe driving conditions. In the past five years, she has experienced two incidents where vehicles crashed into her property, prompting her to install a camera to monitor traffic.

To address these safety concerns, Joanne requested the installation of a sign indicating the double curve and a suggested speed limit of 20 mph. While acknowledging that the suggested speed limit would not be enforceable, she believes that such signage could help reduce speeds and enhance safety for residents.

The Town Council responded positively to her request, with council member Harrison indicating that they would look into the matter further. This proactive approach reflects the council's commitment to addressing community safety and ensuring that residents feel secure in their neighborhoods.
