This disparity may lead to financial challenges for Dennis, but Yarmouth appears to be in a stable position, potentially avoiding the need for a school budget override.

In addition to budget discussions, the committee addressed the upcoming public hearing on the school budget scheduled for February 3, where residents will have the opportunity to voice their opinions. There was also mention of a potential transitional housing project at the former Eagle Pond Nursing Home, which could impact school enrollment by adding 30 to 80 students.

The meeting also marked a transition in leadership, as the current finance director, David Flynn, announced his departure for a larger role in New Bedford. John Farris has been appointed as the interim finance director, bringing experience from his previous roles in school business management.
