Floyd Central celebrates Dazzlers' national championship and recognizes athletes' achievements

The New Albany-Floyd County School Board meeting on April 14, 2025, celebrated the remarkable achievements of student athletes from Floyd Central High School, highlighting their dedication and success in various sports. Principal Scott Hatton opened the session by introducing the Dazzlers, the school's dance team, which recently secured national championships in three categories, bringing their total titles to an impressive 36. Head coach Brittany Peyton praised the team's hard work and commitment, emphasizing the pride they bring to the school.

The meeting also marked a significant milestone for women's sports at Floyd Central. Coach Bridal Sisson introduced freshman Scarlett Rudnick, who made history as the first state qualifier in the newly recognized women's wrestling program. Sisson expressed gratitude for the school board's support in establishing women's wrestling and boys' volleyball, noting the importance of paving the way for future female athletes.

Additionally, Coach Joe Perkins, who has led the swimming and diving team for 25 years, acknowledged the achievements of his athletes, further showcasing the depth of talent within the school’s sports programs.
