These restrictions, which are crucial for compliance with permits issued by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), will take effect from May 1 through September 30. The proposed schedule allows odd-numbered houses to water their lawns on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while even-numbered houses can do so on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The board noted that the highest drought level recorded during recent years was level 3, which previously limited outdoor watering to just one day a week. The drought management task force, which meets monthly, is responsible for assessing and declaring drought levels across the Commonwealth.
