Adam Purdy, a 2019 graduate of Lanai High School, passionately testified about the impact of the STEM Works program on his life and the lives of other young people in the community. Purdy, who now serves as a director and educator with the Lanai Academy of Performing Arts, emphasized that the program provided essential opportunities for students interested in science and technology. He expressed concern that any reduction in funding would not only limit educational opportunities but also hinder the community's potential for innovation and growth. "If STEM Works gets cut, it's not just trimming a budget line. It's stripping away pipelines for Lanai's innovation, growth, and inspiration," he stated.
