North Chicago officials discuss M1 to M3 zoning change concerns near sanctuary

In a recent meeting, Village officials from Lake Bluff expressed their concerns regarding a proposed zoning change in North Chicago that could significantly impact the local environment. The discussion centered around a request to change zoning from M1 to M3, which would allow for more industrial activities near the sanctuary area, located just 50 feet away.

Mayor Leon Wirkingham of North Chicago, along with his chief of staff and the economic and community development director, met with Lake Bluff representatives to address these concerns. The proposed M3 zoning would apply to a site occupied by EMCO, a company located at 3601 Skokie Highway. The Lake Bluff team is particularly worried about the environmental implications of this change, as it could lead to increased pollution in the area.

To ensure that Lake Bluff's position is clearly communicated, Claire, the assistant to the village administrator, is attending an upcoming North Chicago meeting to advocate for the village's stance.
