After moving to Fairfield from Obregon, Mexico, in the wake of the COVID pandemic, she faced significant challenges. The transition was tough; she missed her mother back home, and her father worked long hours in construction to support the family. Initially, as a freshman at Fairfield High, Michelle struggled to find her footing, even resorting to ditching school and losing faith in her ability to succeed.

However, a turning point came when she transferred to Samyoto High School during her sophomore year. There, Michelle shifted her focus from merely earning credits to reigniting her passion for learning.
