Michigan City Sustainability Commission elects Abigail Neri as new chair

The Michigan City Sustainability Commission is undergoing a leadership transition, with Abigail Neri stepping in as the new chair following the departure of Annie Jan Davis. At the recent meeting, members expressed their gratitude for Davis's contributions, noting her significant impact during her tenure. Although she will take a two-year break from official duties, Davis plans to remain active in the community through various side projects.

Neri, who has a strong professional background in sustainability, was elected unanimously and is expected to bring fresh energy and expertise to the commission. Her leadership is anticipated to enhance the commission's initiatives as they continue to focus on environmental issues in Michigan City.

In addition to the leadership change, the commission announced the upcoming Earth Month Extravaganza, scheduled for Saturday, April 26, at the senior center. The event will feature a beach cleanup sponsored by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, along with an electric vehicle showcase at Federal's Alley. The official program will run from 1 to 4 PM, promising a day of community engagement and environmental awareness.
