A citizenship and leadership program for high school cadets took the spotlight during the Washington County School District meeting on April 16, 2025. The program, which emphasizes voluntary participation, aims to prepare students for military service and leadership roles upon graduation.
Colonel, a key figure in the program, received praise for his leadership, highlighting the unity among cadets from different schools, including Crimson, Pineview, and Hurricane. "Regardless of what schools or rivalries they may have on the soccer field or the football field, when they're there in that unit, they're a team," a district representative noted, underscoring the program's ability to foster collaboration and camaraderie among students.
The meeting also featured a brief acknowledgment of Courtney Giles, a teacher at Desert Canyons, indicating ongoing support for educators within the district. The discussions reflect a commitment to developing not only academic skills but also essential life skills in students, preparing them for future challenges.
