Mid-Del Schools celebrated a significant achievement at the recent board meeting, as 18 of its buildings received Energy Star certification from the EPA. This recognition highlights the district's commitment to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Carrie DeBose and Colin Alexander, representatives from Synergistic, presented the awards, explaining the rigorous process involved in obtaining the certification. "Energy Star certified buildings use 35% less energy and cost 35% fewer greenhouse gas emissions," DeBose noted, emphasizing that these schools not only save money but also maintain high performance and comfort standards.
The certified schools include Barnes Elementary, Carl Albert High School, and Del City Middle School, among others. Each building was verified to perform in the top 25% nationwide for energy efficiency and met strict ventilation standards.
DeBose acknowledged the contributions of Ian Wolf, Chris Wilkerson, and Randy Murrell, who supported the program, as well as the efforts of students, staff, and teachers. The meeting concluded with a photo opportunity to commemorate the achievement, reinforcing the district's dedication to fostering a sustainable future.
