Notably, the community concierge organized two events, and a groundbreaking ceremony took place at Copper Flats, signaling ongoing development in the area.
The CVB reported a 7.1% increase in visitor spending year-to-date, totaling approximately $68 million. A new welcome sign was installed off Interstate 90 at Exit 332, enhancing the city’s visibility to travelers.
The MADC shared updates on several initiatives, including the launch of the "Welcome to Your Palace" program, which offers $100 incentives to new residents moving into Mitchell from outside the local ZIP code. The organization also secured a $1,000 grant for child care expansion and retention, reflecting a commitment to community support. Additionally, the MADC hosted a civic workforce summit and a hiring event in collaboration with the Department of Labor and local businesses.
Infrastructure developments were also a focal point, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Fifteenth Avenue Infrastructure project and over $500,000 in grant funding secured for a home rehabilitation program. The meeting also touched on the Dakota Heartland Development Association's progress on a $2.5 million business park in Corsica, which will feature 11 commercial blocks for retail and light manufacturing.
Looking ahead, Johanna from the Mitchell Chamber encouraged council members to utilize the Everything Mitchell app for local event promotion and shared excitement about the upcoming pheasant hunting season, which welcomed a record number of participants this year.
The meeting concluded with a motion to approve the consent agenda, reflecting the council's support for the ongoing initiatives and developments in the community.
