Mayor Darryl Davis took center stage, celebrating the creativity of the young essayists. "We received over a hundred essays this year," he announced, beaming with pride. Each winner, from first grader Quinn Noble to fifth grader Afton Gomez, received certificates and applause, their words painting a picture of a community cherished by its youngest members.

The meeting also highlighted significant environmental initiatives, with a proclamation declaring April 14, 2025, as Mayor's Monarch Pledge Day in Edmond. "Cities have a critical role to play in saving the monarch butterfly," he stated, urging residents to plant native milkweed and nectar plants.

Mayor Davis honored the telecommunicators who manage 911 calls, acknowledging their crucial role in emergency response. "They are the first assurance that help is on the way," he remarked, highlighting their professionalism and compassion in high-stress situations.
