In a recent meeting of the Plymouth Public Schools School Committee, held on April 7, 2025, members gathered to discuss significant updates, including heartfelt retirement announcements and reflections on recent school events.
The atmosphere was tinged with nostalgia as the committee recognized the contributions of four dedicated educators. Sandy Burgess, a paraeducator at Plymouth North High School, retired after 15 years of service, while Jody Armfield, a health aide at Nathaniel Morton Elementary School, concluded her 18-year tenure. Additionally, John Lehman, a science teacher at PCIS, and Michael McGinnis, a social studies teacher at Plymouth South High School, will retire at the end of the school year, marking a combined 82 years of service to the district. The committee expressed gratitude for their commitment and wished them all a happy retirement.

Committee members, including Miss Haywood and Mr. Jackson, praised the event for its quality and the opportunity it provided for students to shine. Mr. Jackson also attended the Plymouth Education Foundation gala, emphasizing the importance of community support for educational initiatives.
Looking ahead, the committee discussed upcoming meetings, including a master planning committee session scheduled for April 16 and a public forum on May 22 at Plymouth South Middle School. The building committee is set to meet this Thursday, continuing the district's commitment to planning and development.
