Salina Parks and Recreation refurbishes Little Liberty statue in Oakdale Park

During the Salina City Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting on February 19, 2025, key discussions highlighted ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance local parks, as well as recognize dedicated staff contributions.

Staffing updates revealed that 68% of the Kenwood Cove staff have committed to returning for the 2025 season, indicating a stable workforce for the upcoming year. However, weather conditions have impacted recreational activities, with only eight rounds of golf played in January.

Another important discussion focused on compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) at the golf course pro shop. Plans are in place to refurbish the counter and snack area to meet ADA standards, addressing previous water damage and ensuring accessibility for all patrons.

The meeting concluded with a commendation for Daniel Jones, a long-serving part-time supervisor with 45 years of service to Salina Parks and Recreation. Jones received a distinguished service award for his dedication and contributions to the community, underscoring the importance of committed staff in enhancing local recreational programs.
