Dyersburg is set to enhance its recreational offerings with the addition of eight new pickleball courts at the soccer complex, as discussed in the recent Board Meeting on April 7, 2025. This development aims to cater to the growing interest in pickleball, a sport that has gained popularity among residents.
During the meeting, Patrick Holden from the Dyersburg Activity Center highlighted various upcoming activities, showcasing a vibrant youth sports scene. The youth basketball program saw an increase in participation, with 228 players across 26 teams this season, generating $14,500 in gate concessions over nine Saturdays. Similarly, youth soccer has also grown, with 340 players participating in the spring season, up from the previous year.

The Dyersburg Activity Center is also preparing for a busy summer with swimming programs, including aqua aerobics and a swim team, expected to attract significant participation. The center anticipates a revenue of $7,260 from its summer swimming program for children aged 3 to 12.
In terms of community usage, local schools are actively utilizing the soccerplex for matches, with several home games scheduled for the upcoming fall season. The city is also gearing up for a major softball tournament in June, expecting around 500 players and securing sponsorships to support the event.
The meeting concluded with updates on the new gymnasium, which is on track for completion this summer, promising to further enhance the city's recreational facilities. As Dyersburg continues to invest in its sports infrastructure, residents can look forward to a more active and engaged community.
