Richmond Community High School senior Ian Bain took the spotlight at the Richmond City Public School Board meeting on April 8, 2025, passionately advocating for the expansion and support of the Richmond Technical Center (RTC). Bain, who has spent a significant portion of his high school career at RTC, highlighted the invaluable hands-on learning experiences he gained through various technical courses, including engineering, welding, and motorsports.
In his address, Bain emphasized the importance of technical education, stating, “These skills that students get to learn from taking these classes truly set them apart.” He urged the school board to increase funding and support for RTC programs, arguing that access to such educational opportunities should be available to all students, regardless of their academic strengths in traditional classrooms.
