However, the council opted not to implement a four-way stop at this intersection, maintaining the existing yield signs instead.

Watanabe noted that while there were requests from residents for additional signage and a reduction of the speed limit from 35 mph to 30 mph, staff recommended referring these requests to the newly formed Transportation Safety Advisory Committee (TSAC). This committee is set to meet for the first time on November 15, 2024, and will consider these safety measures among other agenda items.

The council also discussed ongoing negotiations regarding mutual maintenance agreements with Bexar County for Fred Road, highlighting concerns about liability in the event of accidents related to road conditions.

In addition to traffic safety, Finance Director Summer Fleming presented preliminary year-end financial results and a quarterly investment report, indicating a focus on fiscal responsibility as the city moves forward with its budgetary planning.
